hey, how about new input file type? something along the lines of:
ecasound -i typeselect,midi_cc,a_midi_file.mid -o null
which would then invoke pmidi instead of timidity? should be fairly easy to implement. ofcourse, defining sane default for midi client and port could present some trouble, but there would be propably little danger for newbie to stumble with this accidentally.
ext-cmd-pmidi = pmidi -p 64:0 %f
does it fit? :)
